Gail enjoys a brisk, sunny day in British Columbia on the day we chat over the phone. She’s on a mini vacation with her chiweenie, Churro. In Ballard, it’s gray and cloudy.
Preceding this conversation over the phone about the food bank, Gail and I met virtually through a Buy Nothing group on Facebook in October when we set out to combine funds to cover a neighbor’s shopping expenses while SNAP benefits were in limbo.

Special December Hours
Please note that we have special hours for the last two weeks of December.
We will be open late (until 7PM) instead of closing at 4PM on Monday the 22nd and Monday the 29th. The last two Tuesdays will have regular hours.
We will be closed for both Wednesday and Thursday of the last two weeks in December.

Caimito Finds Her Forever Home
Recently, Client Advocate Katrina and other staff reunited a lost pup with their owner. A long-time visitor reported to staff that her dog had gone missing. Staff in the Resource Hub helped to report the lost dog. The very next morning someone brought the dog to Ballard Food Bank. Luckily, Katrina recognized the dog and was able to arrange a joyous reunion.
Food is just the beginning at Ballard Food Bank. What makes our community a wonderful place is that it's a hub where people, and their pets, feel connected and seen, greeted by name.

Did you know that over 700 people get their mail at Ballard Food Bank? Having a stable address is important for job applications, accessing benefits, and staying in touch with loved ones. It also provides a stable and secure place to get IDs, ballots and election information. In fact, over 500 of our neighbors are registered to vote at this address!
